Summer really is just around the corner and we’re excited to make new seasonal items.
Our list this year features a crochet sun hat for those scorching days, a knitted beach shawl for the chilly summer evenings and a crochet basket to store our winter blankets in. We can’t think of a better way to relax than getting ready for those Summer days with some exciting new crafty projects.
Whether you want a big floppy summer hat, or a small bucket shaped one to fit a child, crochet hats are a perfect summer head wear choice for everyone; any gender, any age, they’re so versatile! If you’re new to crochet, we recommend starting with a ‘granny square’ to practise. Start small now then by summer you’ll be making hats with ease. Remember, everything takes time to learn. Pop in to the shop if you get stuck, we’re more than happy to offer help and advice.
A knitted shawl is the perfect solution for that breezy open beach front, or the cooler evenings spent in the garden enjoying the last of the days’ sunshine. We recommend using a lighter wool, such as our 4ply classics range to craft a lightweight shawl. This simple yet stylish item is a great choice if you’re looking for a holiday travel project. If you’re feeling ambitious, you could go for a full beach cover-up!
The final item on our to-make list is a basket. We’re in desperate need of a place to store all of our winter knits so we thought it was a great time to start perfecting our storage solutions. We love using our Countryside Tweed range for baskets because we love the two-tone look. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can add fringing, handles or ombre´colours to shake up your design.
